Dining with David: Winking Lizard

Well, we were recommended to go to another local place tonight; really a super sports bar that has a focus on food as well as other stuff.  Anytime a place is called Winking Lizard, that has to get your attention.  We started off with their famous chicken wings (flavors included spicy garlic, spicy sesame, goldfinger, teriyaki and BBQ).  These were some good chunky wings; very nice taste and good cut of wing.  I asked for their 'known dish' to assure I would get the best they had to offer.  I was told and got their hall of fame BBQ St. Louis ribs with their special Pfred's Preferred Pfries.  Now, I was born/raised in the south so you better have some good BBQ; let's just say they have some work to do.  These ribs were a little meaty but very fatty cuts.  The sauce was way too thick and had the only taste.  There was not even a smoke ring on the meat; what a shame.  The fries, which looked great, did not meet expectations.  They had way too much cheese and came nothing close to the standard of cheese fries, Outback.  Overall, a decent meal and great experience; the wings were the best.
