Dining with David: Humble Pie

Humble Pie – Phoenix, AZ – June 22, 2011

After a long three days of tradeshow, the team was ready to get away from the resort for a little discussion and down time. I picked a local, upscale pizza place only minutes away. It is located in a strip mall but has a full fire pizza oven and a nice patio for us to sit and eat; yes, the temp dropped down to 99 degrees but they had a fan and it was not bad.
We started off with some roasted assorted olives (not my choice) and then some bruschetta (one with goat cheese and roasted peppers and the other with fresh mozzarella and balsamic). These were very good. We then ordered two pizzas for the four of us. The first was my selection of Prosciutto & Pear with Prosciutto di parma, gorgonzola, fresh grilled pears and topped with arugula. This was one different little pizza and the arugula offset the roasted pears and gorgonzola. It had large slices of prosciutto with that nice salty taste. A nice, different, unique pizza. They ordered the S.O.P with sausage, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, ricotta cheese and sauce. I did not try this one but they said it was wonderful.
A very different place with very good unique pizzas. A nice place with good food for the right time.
