In traveling east on Hwy 70 in NM from Las Cruces, we just happen to see a pull-off for a beautiful mountain range. We pulled off and walked a trail for about a mile to some beautiful views. This is a state recreational area and overlooks White Sands Missile Range. It was a windy day but gorgeous as we walked around (watching for snakes) and got to see a view not common in our home state.
